My ambition is to become Naval Officer. The job scope is the newly commissioned officers are then posted to the Fleet for bridge Watch keeping Certificate which certifies himm competent for taking charge of a ship at sea.In his operational posting, the Naval Officer assumes the role of a Bridge Watch keeping Officer. He is responsible to the Commanding Officer for the safety and efficient handling of the ship while he is on watch. This requires a thorough professional knowledge of navigation, meteorology, ship handling and communications. Then it is back to the classroom again for further advance training at the Navel Junior Offices Course. He is given further training on professional subjects as well as subjects like surface and underwater tactical warfare. On completion of the course, the Naval Officer is qualified to serve his first posting as an appointment holder on board a naval ship normally as a Navigation Officer. Specific warfare oriented training is also provided to enable him to fill other shipboard specialist appointments. After gaining seagoing experience working on the ship and assuming junior appointment onboard, the Naval Officers would attend the Naval Advanced Officers Course where they are trained to be staff officers or senior appointment holders on board ships.
The post of a Naval Officer requires the individual to have either a GCE A level, Diploma or Dgree qualification. The incumbent must be medically fit with good eyesight(not colour-blind), below the age of 26. With all these in place tangible requirements in place, there is a final hurdle which is the face-to-face interview for the senior naval officers to assess and size up the individual to confirm that he or she has the required leadership qualities to be a Naval officer.
Some careers may be transitional or be affected by certain economic factors but the future propects of being a Naval Officer looks bright. the need to build up a credible seaward defence for Singapore and the security of its sea-lanes of communications would remain relevant as long as long as Singapore remains a sovereign state.

The 'heartware video'
Recently, our English teacher showed our class a video clip which is about remembering our roots. This video stressed to us that it is important that our overseas Singaporeans feel and share their sense of belonging as Singapore is their homeland after all. After seeing this video, I feel that I am secured and safe living in Singapore. Singapore is a safe place to live in and I do have a strong sense of belonging to my nation. It is this strong sense of belonging that binds all Singaporeans together in one harmony and nation.
It is important to reach out to our overseas Singaporeans to remind them that their roots are still here in Singapore. They should finally come back to their homeland, Singapore, to do their part to make Singapore's economy prosper and a much better gracious country to live in.

Since young I have the ambition to be a Naval Officer. Somehow, my father was responsible for this passion in me to be one as I saw how smart he was in the naval uniform, he told me details of his visits (and showed me photographs taken with the foreign naval officers and visits to places of interests) to various countries with the naval fighting ships for exercises as well as participating in overseas naval construction programmes. These are three main reasons which steer me to work towards being a naval officer like my father.
My love to be a Naval Officer was triggered when my father brought me (when I was about 11 years old) to the naval ship during the navy open house on 5 May 02. I was fascinated with the naval fighting ships and also the discipline and respect in the naval camp. I am fully aware that the training as a naval officer is tough both physically and mentally and I must be prepared for sacrifices if I want to serve and protect the country. Life on board the naval fighting ships are tough especially during bad sea states and foul weather. However, life in the Navy can also be fun as my father has participated in the construction programmes for the Missile Corvettes and Frigates. In addition, during his tour onboard the naval ships, he had the opportunity to travel to various countries such as Australia, India, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, New Caledonia, etc. Likewise, I would want to have this opportunity to travel too and perhaps if I study well, I may even get a scholarship from the Republic of Singapore Navy.

I live in a family of five.My elder brother is working and he tends to buy my favourite items for me.My parents are very busy in weekdays. They spent one day on weekends to bring us out to anywhere that will interest us.Every holidays, my parents would either bring us to malaysia to visit our grandmother or grandfather or other countries that we do not visit before.
My school friends are very easy to get along and most of them are not very bad in character. They will joke with you .
